28 November 2019 I Mannheim: Bringing together local crafts businesses and international skilled workers –
It is with this goal in mind, that the Welcome Center Rhine-Neckar and the Mannheim Rhine-Neckar-Odenwald Chamber of Crafts have decided to deepen their future cooperation.
On the one hand, craft enterprises are desperately looking for qualified skilled personnel and are increasingly dependent on the support of skilled workers from abroad when filling vacancies. On the other hand, applicants with a foreign qualification often do not feel sufficiently informed about career opportunities in the area of crafts and do not know how to gain a foothold in the sector.
In order to fill this gap, the two partners intend to support local crafts enterprises in their search for skilled employees by offering them comprehensive advice on different aspects of the topic. At the same time, the aim is to inform international trainees and skilled workers right from the beginning about career prospects at regional craft enterprises and to support them in the application process.
“We have already been cooperating closely with the Mannheim Rhine-Neckar-Odenwald Chamber of Crafts on many levels. With the cooperation agreement signed today, we want to further strengthen our cooperation in the field of international skilled workers in order to jointly intensify the recruitment of skilled workers in the crafts sector,” emphasizes Christiane Ram.
Jens Brandt of the Chamber of Crafts underlines: “Crafts enterprises should be informed about the new possibilities that the Skilled Immigration Act, for example, is going to offer in order to recruit skilled workers from abroad. In this context, dual vocational training can be an important step towards a sustainable integration of the workers in craft enterprises”.
